10 cleaning tips and tricks
We all are always in search of some tips and tricks regarding cleaning of our home, clothes, utensils etc.
I know some very good and effective tips that actually do work!!
#1 cleaning plastic glass stand
The base of the glass stands usually turn yellow after sometime. And they look old and untidy.
To get rid of these stains, spread synthetic white vinegar on its base, so that all its yellow stains are fully covered with vinegar. Leave it overnight. Next day, wash it with soapy sponge. Your glass stand will look like new.
#2 Grease stains on clothes
Worried about grease stains on clothes ?? No more worries!!
Take some mustard oil and apply it on your targeted area. Rub it generously and you will see how magically mustard oil cuts off grease. After that wash your cloth with your regular detergent and you are done!
#3. Cleaning white canvas shoes
Cleaning my children's white shoes always gave me tough time. Only after one time wore they looked old and untidy.
Now after trying and testing I have found a very effective tip to clean them.
Make a mixture of any white toothpaste and baking soda. Take equal proportions. Apply this paste with toothbrush and cover completely the shoes with this mixture.
After application keep the shoes in sunlight (if available) or let it dry itself. When it is completely dry. Clean it with wet cloth or wetting the old toothbrush and repeatedly washing toothbrush with water. Your shoes will be brand new.
Tip for Polishing white canvas shoes
When you use white liquid polish for Polishing, take a small quantity of water in a mug and dip a toothbrush into it and apply little amount of polish on your shoes on all sides and spread evenly with this wet toothbrush (wet your toothbrush multiple times as required). With this technique you will end up with a very good polish finish and less quantity of polish will be used.
#4 Removing color stains from colored clothes
When you wash few clothes together, it must have happened several times that color of one fabric have stayed on another. And after washing several times it wouldn't have gone either! So, here is the tip for cleaning color stains from your white and colored clothes both.
Take white toothpaste and mix washing detergent with it (Quantity as per your stain). Cover generously your stain area with this mixture and let it dry for the whole day. Next day wet that area and rub gently and then wash it with water. Hopefully you will get rid of your color stain in one go if it's not much. But if not, then you can repeat the procedure as required.
Additional tip
If you have small children, and you want to save your expensive and branded clothes from getting ruined with stiff stains, don't keep your kids stained clothes for next day washing. Wash the stiff stains area then and there atleast within two hours with dishwashing liquid (preferably) or any white soap. A little botheration will save your further tension and wastage of clothes. Because nobody likes to wear stained clothes!!
Common Stiff stains include (if left for a longer time)
Peach stains, Banana stains, Pomegranate stains, strawberry stains, Mango stains, Tea, coffee stains, chocolate stains etc.
#5. Cleaning rusted knobs, handles etc.
Take coconut oil and take a clean cloth. Dip ur cloth's corner in coconut oil and apply it on rusted area and rub vigorously. You will see rust cutting off and your affected area getting rust free.
#6 switchboards cleaning
You must be cleaning your switch boards with damp cloth and must be afraid also of getting electric shock. Use any wet wipes and clean them with it. You will see how easily they get clean with it and gives you a good shine too!!
#7 Bathroom buckets, mugs and stool cleaning
Put on your gloves and take harpic or sweep (mix sweep with little water as it's very strong and more effective) and apply it with a brush on the bucket (don't use sponge it will rotten away as sweep is very strong) and cover all areas with it. And leave for an hour! After an hour rub it with detergent using a sponge and then wash it with water. You will get a brand new bucket!
#8 Quick deep freezer cleaning
In Pakistan due to very hot temperature in summers and electricity shortfalls, we generally use refrigerators whose freezers get ice on all its sides , when ON. Like dawlance refrigerators.
For cleaning them we have to switch them off and let them stand for some time and wait for melting its ice and then clean them. In summers, ice melts quickly but in winters it takes alot of time. So, cleaning them with this small trick will definitely save your time.
Take your hair drier and melt your freezer's ice with it. And then clean your freezer.
#9 Removing Oil stains from clothes
To remove oil stains from your clothes, apply any talcum powder on that oily stain and rub powder with your fingers on the stain and press that area with hot iron carefully until the powder gets fully absorbed in the fabric. If stain is small n light it will disappear instantly. If it's more, then you can repeat the procedure for desired results. Also keep the fabric for a day or two, after pressing it with iron and then use it.
#10 Removing chewing gum from fabric
Press the affected area's backside of cloth with hot iron. Iron will make chewing gum dry and you can then scratch it with knife or any scraper easily from your fabric.
Also you can rub ice on chewing gum sticked to your fabric till the chewing gum gets completely hard. Then it will easily get removed.
